ATELIER d’architecture en Terre by LUCA
Datum vydání 28.04.2026
For millennia, humanity has built with an accessible, healthy, and abundant material: earth. Long before concrete, glass, and steel, earth was used to construct cities, homes, and durable infrastructure on every continent. Earth is not an alternative material: it is one of the foundational materials of architecture.
In the face of the environmental and ecological crisis we are currently experiencing, earth has returned to the forefront in recent years, particularly praised for its ecological qualities.
LUCA, in collaboration with ARCHITECT@WORK, Iwwerliewen, and DKollektiv, invites Luxembourg-based architects to discover the properties of this material and its endless possibilities of application during these practical workshops.
Sessions (duration: 1 hour)
- 28.04.2026 – 16:00 | “Unfired Earth Bricks”
Traditional unfired earth blocks, also known as adobe bricks, are produced by molding a wet mixture in a plastic state, then air-dried. - 29.04.2026 – 14:00 | “Earth Plaster”
Achieving a successful earth plaster depends on the precise preparation of each layer and requires adjustments based on the nature of the substrate and the properties of the earth used. - 29.04.2026 – 16:00 | “Rammed Earth”
The unique texture of rammed earth is achieved through the successive compaction of layers 10 to 15 cm thick within formwork made of slightly damp gravelly earth.
